I have of late, discovered the value of stepping out of ones' own pain even when it is most acute. Often it is believed and practiced that when we are in pain, loaded with emotional baggage ,and our pain is at its' peak,we become stuck because we feel we must first address the pain and its' cause before taking any further step.
The problem with this type of thinking is that we lose perspective. All our efforts, energy, and focus magnify the pain and we lose all objectivity. It looms ominous over our spirits like a melancholy fog. Stepping outside of ourselves and our pain can have great therapeutic benefit especially when all that energy and effort is diverted towards the needs of someone else. The goal is not to ignore or suppress or trivialize the pain and its' cause but rather to step outside of it for a season.
What follows is new perspectives and meanings and understanding that will empower you to deal with the pain when you decide to revisit it. This is a good first step in the process of getting unstuck. You will find yourself having picked up new tools along the way when you go on your " stepping out of pain adventures".The mere excercise of "stepping out" reinforces the notion that you do not have to remain there.
If you find yourself stuck in pain unable to dislodge yourself free , give yourself permission to step out of yourself and your pain for a season and focus on someone who needs your help. Love them ,serve them assist in some way and take this promise with you.....
"Praise be to the God and father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles , so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God." 2 Cor 1:3,4
